目前，全球主要的导航系统有四个：美国的GPS（Global Positioning System）、俄罗斯的GLONASS（Global Navigation Satellite System）、欧洲的伽利略卫星导航系统（Galileo）和中国的北斗卫星导航系统（BeiDou-1/2/3）。此外，印度也在建设自己的导航系统——IRNSS（Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System）。
